Nov 01, 2022I'm sitting down with Lindsay Rando, owner of Bobbles and Lace. We're talking about what's going on in the retail world, Lindsay's background, experience, and perspective on business ownership and all-things-retail.
Lindsay grew up "on the counter", watching her mom and grandmother work in her grandmother's consignment store. She remembers building window displays and developed a love for the fashion industry at an early age.
When it comes to Bobbles and Lace, Lindsay believes that her brand is 50% about what they sell and 50% about what they do. It's an experience-based boutique - Lindsay hires people who are stylists. She sells a solution to a problem. The key to it all is affordability. She wants fashion to be a fun expression of yourself that doesn't break the bank.
Her advice when it comes to business ownership: move at your own pace. Be flexible and move at a pace that makes sense for you and your business.
Two more key ingredients: follow your instinct and bounce your instincts off a team of people you trust.
Lindsay likes to surround herself with people who know more than she does. She trusts these people and turns to them for help with staying on the right patch.
When it comes to work-life balance, Lindsay says, "Be okay with being just okay." She tries to balance all the pieces so that she feels okay about everything. She's let go of trying to be fabulous at anything. The balance and realistic expectations are key.
